Through our Outreach ministry we support various non-profit organizations here in SMA. This week we want to draw your attention to EEESMA School for the Deaf. https://www.eeesma.com. EEESMA was established in 2012 to offer kids who are Deaf better communication skills for life. There are no government supported schools for the Deaf in the state of Guanajuato and public schools offer little or no sign language instruction. Over the past 14 years, EEESMA has served over 100 children and young adults. EEESMA is addressing the challenge of retaining qualified teachers with Mexican Sign Language Skills by training the students themselves to be teachers of the Deaf.

The new school year is underway at EEESMA and September is sponsorship month. They are sending thanks to all those who have been sponsoring a student and they are seeking additional sponsors, especially for the 6 new students who have joined the school this year. Continuing sponsorship of students at the school will be one of the topics at the next Outreach meeting. There are also opportunities for individuals to sponsor a student. Also on October 23, 1:30-4:00pm, EEESMA will be having a Garden Luncheon Fundraiser “Let the Journey Begin” at Casa Palikao, Calle Hidalgo 32, Centro histórico. The event will include a self-guided tour through the historically significant residence, a silent auction, a lunch prepared by Delani of Hecho con Amor, and live music by violinist David Mendoza and the EEESMA School Choir.

OnThursday April 23, 5 church members(Luke Rich, Anna Copeland, Mark Moore, Paul Burleigh, and David O) went on a field trip to the Caminos de Agua Office and then to the Los Ricos community! We received a wonderful education on how Caminos facilitates the capturing, filtering, and consumption of drinking water which would otherwise be very harmful to the community’s health! Your donations to the church allow us to support such a wonderful cause.
